If you want to learn more about swing stand you have to take a close look over the free plans in the article. This is a sturdy swing stand designed for your porch or backyard patio. If you want to add a swing to your property, you should consider building this stand as it is the perfect support. You can move the stand from one location to another, so this has many advantages. You can make a few teaks to my plans so they suit your needs. If you want to get the job done in a professional manner, we recommend you to plan everything with attention, as to prevent costly mistakes and to build a professional garden bench. Invest in high quality materials, such as cedar, pine or redwood, as the bench will be exposed to all kinds of weather. Apply a few coats of paint over the components, to enhance their appearance and to protect them from bad weather. The first step of the project is to build the sides for the swing stand. Use 2×6 lumber for the base and 4×4 lumber for the posts. Use a circular saw to make decorative cuts to both ends of the base slats. Center the base beams to the posts and make sure the corners are square. Drill pilot holes through the base and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the posts. Fit the beams to the base posts so that they overhang 12″ on both sides. Align the edges with attention and make sure the posts are plumb. Clamp the beams to posts, drill pilot holes through both the beams and the posts. Insert 8″ carriage bolts and then use washers and nuts to lock the components together tightly. Next, attach 4×4 braces to the swing stand, as shown in the diagram. Make 45 degree cuts at both ends of the yellow braces and at one end of the blue supports. Drill pilot holes and use 2 1/2″ screws to secure the braces to the beams and to the posts. Use 2 1/2″ screws to secure the supports between the beams. Last but not least, you need to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. If you have enjoyed the free project, we recommend you to share it with your friends, by using the social media widgets. Apply a few coats of paint or stain over the components to protect the swing stand from the elements. You can always save the plans as PDF or Print them using the floating widget on the left side of the screen (working only on PC or laptop).
